Callie Danielle Hi I'm Callie! I'm a former NFL cheerleader and elementary schoolteacher from Houston, Texas, but always a doodler. In 2018, I began selling my designs on shirts in a tiny Etsy shop. That success quickly led to full-time design work and developing even more products straight from my heart to you. In some small way, I hope to spread happiness, love, and joy to you for His good. El Baker Art Hi! I'm an Austin-based artist who loves to experiment with materials and unexpected colors. My style is always changing and features everything from mixed-media Texas landscapes to colorful abstract desert plants. Many of my pieces are inspired by road trips across Texas, from the mountains of Big Bend National Park to the rolling landscapes of the hill country. I was born in Houston and our family moved around a bit -- I eventually made it back to Austin to go to UT. Besides an 18-month stint in Chattanooga for my husband's work, I've been in Austin ever since. I live in a tiny house with my sweet husband, daughter, and baby boy. When I'm not painting, you'll find me going down playground slides or splashing in the cool water of Deep Eddy. I'm inspired every day by the vibrant scenery of Central Texas and new artists I find on Instagram. I hope my work brings you joy and adds a bit of color to your life. :) Cheers and thank you! Hemlock & Heather We are Kris and Kelley Denby, a husband-and-wife team living and creating in Austin, Texas. Hemlock & Heather began to make ends meet while Kris finished his degree at the University of Texas. At first, we were rehabbing old furniture that we found on the side of the road or in secondhand shops, but we quickly realized that was not for us. We shifted gears to stripping desks and coffee tables of their tops and using the frames as a base for mosaic panels that we designed and built from scratch. This was our first foray into the world of wood art, and it felt right. When tragedy struck Kelley’s small hometown of West, Texas in the Spring of 2013, she asked me to build something “Texas-y” for a benefit she and friend had planned to raise money for the town. I tend to take things very literally, so I went into the garage and made a Texas cut out from some of the old wood I had lying around my shop. The piece was a hit, and a few months later we were selling our Texas Wall Hangings in West Elm. We’ve built murals for West Elm and Lululemon, and shipped thousands of state-shaped wall hangings, panels, and our ornaments all over the country. Our work has been featured in Fast Company, HGTV Magazine, Texas Monthly, Austin Monthly, Austin Home, and Tribeza. We take pride in every piece we make and ship. And we try to honor the spirit of that first piece by donating pieces every year to different charities. Humblelove humblelove is an all-natural soap and body care business owned and operated by husband and wife, Taylor and April Locke. Based out of the small town of Caldwell, Tx, humblelove began as a passion project based on their own love for herbs, essential oils, and all things handmade, as well as a desire to help others have access to non-toxic daily body care products. Starting with a farmers’ market here and a craft market there, they soon realized that this was something they desired to take full time. Thus, in the summer of 2015, covered in prayer and essential oils, they made the leap to open their own brick and mortar shop, 'the humble life,' on the square in their small Texas town. Every product humblelove makes is handcrafted and guaranteed to be 100% all natural. Taylor & April chose the name 'humblelove' as a reminder to themselves, and to anyone who buys their products, that we are all called to put the needs of others ahead of our own and to serve one another with love. LINNY CO LINNY CO is an accessories company that believes bold style can be effortless for everyone. All pieces are safe for sensitive ears. All are nickel-free and are hypoallergenic. When I was little my dad would take me by the shoulders and tell me repeatedly: DREAM BIG DREAMS. So I have always done exactly that. I grew up in Dallas, Texas and at a very young age started driving race cars. Yes... race cars. At age 22, I was shaken to my core when my racing career came to an abrupt halt. I was lost in this world until God saved me and put me on a new path. He gave me new dreams, like one day owning my own business. Making jewelry came naturally to me. My father was an orthodontist and always had tools laying around the house. He was not a stranger to jewelry making himself - years ago he melted gold and hand made my mom's wedding band. My mother was an artist and always inspired me to create things. She would tell me that perfection was overrated and to just be myself. She instilled in me a confidence to just be me and share my gifts. I have always been thankful that I had someone encouraging me to dream big dreams. It is a desire of my heart to share that message with other women. LINNY CO has partnered with multiple organizations over the years but most recently with African Christian Outreach and Young Lives. LINNY CO gives a portion of every sale to women who need a little help to keep on dreaming. Made in Texas Co. Rowe Casa Organics Rowe Casa Organics was born in 2017 when Jill Rowe started creating all-natural remedies at home to help keep her family of five healthy. As these remedies started working, she told her friends about them, and soon the Rowes had cars lining up on their street to pick up products! Rowe Casa Organics has grown a lot since then, fulfilling more than 30,000 orders and offering a wide range of incredible products born out of countless hours of research, product development, and testing. They’re dedicated to empowering people to improve their immune systems, balance hormones, improve sleep, take care of themselves, and even spruce up their households—all naturally. When Jill first started deep-diving to find natural home remedies, she often went to her sister Alicia Guzzardo with questions or for research assistance. Alicia’s personal experience with over 10 years of working through various health struggles with the guidance of her naturopath doctor made her perfect for these conversations. They soon recruited Alicia’s husband, Mike, who brought a level of business expertise they desperately needed, and the families decided together that partnership was the next best step. The Guzzardos joined the Rowes on a mission to reach as many people as possible with natural alternatives for healthier living. Since 2017, Rowe Casa Organics has been blessed beyond measure, growing to more than 160 retail stores across the United States and fulfilling over 30,000 orders! Our purpose goes beyond profits, and as we grow as a company, our contribution to our community also grows. It's a simple medium that hasn't changed much over the years, but the infinite number of things you can make or do with it is just so fun. As a designer of paper goods, based in San Antonio, Texas, it’s such a thrill to create pieces that give people all the feels: feeling loved, feeling remembered, feeling proud, feeling happy. From greeting cards and notepads to bookplates, I start each day feeling lucky to do what I love. AN ELF DID IT. I’m often asked how I came up with the name Sunshine and Ravioli and it’s a story that goes back to the early 2000s. The movie Elf came out while I was trying to come up with the business name and my kids loved it (we still laugh through it every year). We wore out the soundtrack from the movie and I found inspiration from one of our favorite sing along songs, “Pennies from Heaven” by Louis Prima. In one part of the song the lyrics are “Sunshine and Ravioli” and it stuck with me. Better yet, it makes my heart smile every time I think about those little nuggets sitting in their seats in the minivan, singing that song at the top of their lungs as we drove down the highway. The name captures everything I want to share with my customers—happy, warm fuzzy memories. Thank you so much for supporting handmade. I’m very glad you’re here. Stephanie Read more. Write more. Turtlebox Audio Our mission is to make the LOUDEST, rugged, portable speaker in the Market that is specifically built for the outdoors. The first Turtlebox was born out of necessity. Nothing else could get the job done. Wildflower Caramel Co About the Caramels: We are a woman owned and family run company with the mission to create for you a small, unique and incredibly tasty treat that keeps you coming back for more; but, at the same time, ensure that quality is never compromised and every life along the supply chain was treated and paid fairly. We hope to live our lives and build a company in such a way, that our footprint on our planet is minimal but the love that we leave is large. About the Maker: After a job change and the arrival of our daughter and a few years later, our son, we decided that staying home with our children was the best decision for our family. Although creating things from scratch was always a joy for me, this shift provided (almost out of necessity to cut spending), me an outlet and more time to spend on creating things. In December of 2012, I made my first batch of apple cider caramels. From there, I have modified and developed my own recipes, learned by trial and error about the chemistry of candy making and have sadly scrapped many batches to find the perfect ratios of ingredients. Today, my 7-year-old daughter helps to count caramels and teaches me to experience beauty in every moment, my 5 year old son provides constant commentary and a precious face and my husband often helps to be the face of Wildflower. Not all brands we carry are made in Texas. Here are a few and why we made the big decision to include them in our store: ABLE ABLE is an ethical fashion brand that employs and empowers women as a solution to end poverty. We’re deeply devoted to quality – both in the products we make and the quality of life we aim to provide. • Why did you name the store Freethinkers?
We LOVE history and Comfort, Texas is rich in history and has a unique story to tell all about the "The Founding Freethinkers" (Deutsche Freidenker) From 1845 to 1861 large numbers of German Freethinkers emigrated to the Texas Hill Country. Freethinkers were predominantly German intellectuals who advocated reason and democracy over religious and political autocracy. Many had been active in the 1848 German Revolution and sought freedom in America. Freethinkers valued their newfound freedoms of speech, assembly and separation of religion and government. Instead of religious dogma. Freethinkers believed in individual philosophy. They advocated equal rights for all persons, and their moral values were dominated by respect for life and nature. Many were active in political issues of the day including the rejection of secession and abolition of slavery. Intellectual pursuits were shared with agriculture and other crafts of physical labor. Secular education and organizations (Vereins) provided social and cultural fulfillment. Existence was peaceful and their influence rapidly expanded. -Author Unknown
